Out of these 10 questions, answer ONLY one as first come first serve. This means that 10 people per period should get their reward :-)
1. Of what did Darwin die?
2. Where did he contract it?
3. Name of the disease, scientific and common name.
4. Organism that causes it and vector that carries it.
5. Is there a treatment for it? If so, which one?
6. Who paid for Darwin's trip?
7. How many kids did he leave at home?
8. Scientific name of mosquitos in our area.
9. Of what are these species of mosquitos carriers?
10. What are the statistics for these diseases here in South Florida?

A scientific name of a local mosquito species is the Aedes albopictus. Its common name is the Asian Tiger Mosquito. Aedes is the genus and albopictus is the species.
The asian tiger mosquito was originally from Asia, hence the name, but was transported over to North America by the transportation of used tires and other goods.
The asian tiger mosquito is all black with white stripes on its legs...very common in south Florida.

  18. 1. In 1882, Charles Darwin had several minor heart attacks. Many believe that Darwin died of Chaga's disease, when bitten by a bug in South America. There appears to be increasing support for the diagnosis that both organic and psychological ailments combined to cause his illness.
